ARTISTS WE'VEWORKED WITH
WHO WE ARE, HOW WE STARTED OUT, AND WHAT WE DO . . .
We are Become Modern, a creative team based in Brighton. We specialise in running club nights big & small, and putting on gigs for artists new & established. Our events vary from vintage music parties, right through to cutting edge dancefloor sounds, and also include film nights & special screenings. We offer our DJ services for hire as well as our promoting, branding, design, & curating skills. In 2006, after some years of running venues and DJing at various places, we decided it was time for us to start our first major project. We created Brighton's legendary club night 'Somewhere In The Universe There Must Be Something Better Than Man' . For over three years we ran exciting parties every week focusing on new electronic music that you could dance to . Known for it's innovative ethos, combining trendy new sounds whilst maintaining an unpretentious party atmosphere, as well as booking the most cutting edge acts to appear at the night, 'Somewhere In The Universe' was a new breed of night in Brighton that contibuted significantly to the cities nightlife culture. Over the years we expanded our operation into several different club nights based around new music, and earnt ourselves a reputation for booking new and interesting acts , many of whom made their first ever Brighton appearances at our nights. Acts like Friendly Fires, DJ Mehdi, MSTRKRFT, Heartsrevolution, La Roux, Surkin, The Golden Filter, Busy P (the manager of Daft Punk & Justice), Hercules & Love Affair and Little Boots all made their first Brighton appearances with us. Since that time, we have cultivated a whole series of club nights keeping our fun party ethos at the heart of each one. For instance 'It Is Still 1985', our wildly popular 80's party every Saturday, is now a Brighton institution for an alternative crowd looking to embrace the amusing uncool of corporate 80's radio pop. We are passionate about great, imaginative parties which is why in August 2008 we opened a new Brighton nightclub called New Hero, we created the name & brand, the ethos, and curated the nights in an effort to form a venue that looked at nightclubbing in a way that didn't previously exist in Brighton. We wanted to bring some colour back into nightlife and have achieved this with exciting new bands, wild parties, forward thinking music policies, and by creating environments for hipsters to shed their cool and dance like no one's watching. In 2011 we branded and now currently curate Brighton nightclub & live music venue The Haunt.
